Graphene batteries: description, history of creation
The discovery of graphene was a technological breakthrough on the way of creating super-capacitated batteries. Graphene is a carbon film formed by the rigid connection of carbon atoms in a hexagonal structure resembling a bee honeycomb. The device is a special metal-polymer housing, in which two plates of heterogeneous metals (copper and aluminum) are inserted with leads to provide electrical contacts – an electrolyte (liquid or solid) is placed between the electrodes. The anode contains the reducing agent, and the cathode – the oxidizing agent. Inside the case is a separator plate that prevents negatively charged lithium atoms from moving freely between the electrodes.
